Slushy science
News - Friday 24/04 -
Marc and Philip are seeing more and more slush, water that is coming up between the ice and snow in certain areas. After consultation with scientist Christian Haas, they performed some scientific measurements at their current location, rather than trying to cover a lot of distance. Helping schience get a better understanding is after all the primary goal of this expedition.
Marc also reports that they can see what looks like smoke in the distance. It's a phenomenon known as Arctic Sea Smoke, and is an indication of open water. The plan is to keep travelling north, toward the Grinell Peninsula, and then head west toward Bathurst Island. But if the team encounters large areas of open water, they might have to change tactics.
